With the recent cooler weather I've been de-misting the Windows. But on the rear only my top bar of the de-mister is working. I've seen conductive paint to repair it but how do I find the break? Also has anyone had experience with the repair paint? |

Get an ohmmeter, an old school analogue one is preferable, but a digital one can be used, set on a low ohm scale, disconnect both sides of the heater grid from the vehicle circuit, connect one side, doesn't matter which, to one ohmmeter lead, cut a 1" x 2" strip of aluminum foil and wrap it around the other ohmmeter lead like a flag, and then rub the aluminum foil flag down the heater line whilst watching the meter needle - it will swing from one side to the other when you cross the break. Before applying the conductive paint, use a sharp knife, the X-Acto modeling knives work well, carefully scrape away the protective lacquer for a few mm on either side of the break, the lay down two strips of masking tape either side of the heater line, as close as you can to the line and then apply the paint across the break, overlapping the areas that you scraped - re-test before removing the masking tape and then seal with a dab of clear nail polish. |

Wow. Sounds like you've done this a few times. Thanks for the great description. |
