Going through steps in FSM for Baleno SY416, to remove G16B motor. It's a 2WD MT car. I'm nearly there but: Cannot find the clutch operating cylinder. Do I have to remove this? Cannot locate the propeller shaft in order to disconnect it. I feel pretty stupid but I can't see it there anywhere. It's supposed to be on the transmission case flange. Help would be appreciated. Driveshafts run to each front wheel and from memory they just pull out (circlips) can't recall where the clutch runs to, but it will be on the bellhousing, so on the LHS of the car down low. |

Thanks for the answers, I was in a mad rush to get the Baleno engine out by dark (I'm working outdoor / not undercover) and I only had use of the crane until the end of today. I think it must be a cable type clutch so there is no hydraulic system. As for the propeller shaft, still a bit confused about that, but as you were saying if I can remove the driveshafts then that should take care of it. Ran out of time, but I can get the crane back soon so I'll get to take another look at it next weekend. |

I'm a bit confused about the use of the term "propellor shaft"- I suspect it's referring to the short shaft that runs from gearbox to the drivers side CV, so it runs beside the sump. Can't recall what it attaches too. |

I've been working out of a this baleno manual, pages 315 - 318 apply to engine removal. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=sites&srcid=ZGVmYXVsdGRvbWFpbnxzdXp1a2lidWlsZHBob3Rvc3xneDo1ZGVhMDE3YWVjZjlhMWM |

Balenos were available AWD - that diagram shows the "propeller shaft" on the AWD version, your 2WD vehicle won't have one. |

Yes, you're right fordem I should've twigged sooner. Usually FSMs say "ïf equipped" for non standard options but not in this case, so I wasted quite a bit of time trying to work that out. Frustrating, as I was trying to get the motor out by the end of Sunday. I'll be better prepared when I have another crack this Friday. |

Got back under the Baleno this morning to remove those driveshafts. After knocking the joint apart with a hammer no clips to be found Must be a different type of drive shaft.
