Post subject:  Fuel-Miser pump noise?

Hey guys,

Just quickly, I've had a new fuel pump installed using one of the fuel-miser ones from suzistore with along with a new maruti push rod. The new pump seems to be quite noisy though compared with the old suzuki one. Its making a ticking noise (tick, tick, tick, tick) as it pumps and have also notice a new rattle sound inside the cabin.

Was wondering if anyone who has used one of these pumps has noticed anything similar? I've just sourced a new suzuki factory fuel pump so can switch it out for a genuine one if the quality of the fuel-miser ones is though to be sub par and keep the fuel-miser as a backup.

Cheers, Sage.

Yes, the aftermarket pumps are sub par. Swap in the genuine pump. As an aside, did you measure/compare the pushrod lengths? I wasn't aware that maruti would supply a g13ba pump pushrod. How worn was the original Suzuki rod?

The original rod looked ok in my opinion but i ordered a new one with the pump from suzi store at the same time just in case. As the mechanic i took my car to installed it i didn't measure them myself but i did notice that the replacement maruti rod had flat ends as in a straight edge where at the old one has the ever so slightest beveled edge. Not sure if this was from 20 years of wear though. I was planning to take it back in with the genuine pump and ask them to pull the fuel-miser pump off, take out the replacement rod, measure both the rods and then sub in the new genuine pump and old rod if its within spec.

You can do it yourself with a 12mm socket and a screwdriver in about 10 minutes.

Yep, probably the easiest to replace mechanical component on the whole car.
