96 v6 lab vitara. I have a problem with my power windows where sometimes they will work but most of the time they won't and its really annoying me. I'm thinking its in the switch on the drivers door as the guy i bought it off said it has a loose connection and if I wiggle the plug they will work but haven't had any luck with it yet. Is it a common problem and does anyone know how to fix it and is it as simple as replacing the switch. When they stop working all window switches stop working and its a real pain as I don't really want to get it stolen or have stuff go missing etc. ANY help would be greatly appreciated as I need to fix this problem asap Thanks in advance
There are two ways to approach this, the first is parts swap and the second is to get a meter and test - if all the windows stop working at the same time it is more than likely power to the system.
Power window issues on older Suzukis are very common, over time the switches arc and burn the contact points and the windows stop working, switches for that model should be plentiful (and cheap) on ebay, and at least in my experience, the cheap Chinese switches actually have larger, more robust contacts than the OE parts.
I have found what I think is the power wire cos there's a wire there with power with the key switched on and I'm gunna go to the wreckers and try and buy a cheap switch today and see if it helps before I go and buy a new one and if it doesn't I'll just return it
So I installed a new master switch and it didn't fix the problem. I went hunting and it seems to work when I have the drivers window unplugged from the loom or when i apply power to the red wire with the test light
