Hi All, I'm relatively mechanically minded and not afraid to try something new. I've got a 3.7 center with a Spartan auto locker fitted, which I want to swap into a 4.1 center which is open centered. Is this a difficult task to complete for a first timer, or is it better if I pay some-one who's more competent to complete? |

your talking about a 4.1 WT diff im guessing? swapping lockers is easy enough as long as you are confident of the process of getting preload and back lash correct. |

I've got a set up Shaved twin locked w/t diffs sitting at home, and I'm purchasing a W/T Maruti so I figured it'd be worth running the 1lt centres while I stay 1lt for a while. I've never done that before, anywhere I could school myself on the process, I'd prefer to learn how to do it myself, however I'm not too proud to pay someone if I need too! |

Auto lockers, if they are the style that fits inside the open differential, aren't that difficult to install (or swap), and that's because the preload and backlash are already set, and all you need to do is be able to put everything back exactly where it was. Go to LowRangeOffRoad.com and download the LockRight installation manual and sit down with it - I know it's not a Spartan, but it goes into more detail - you'll have a good idea of what's required. |
