Comments? Yes I know a locker is better. Is a locker better in the sand? Does anyone have this LSD fitted to their GV? Any other parts needed to fit it? Why front and not back? http://4xfourart.com/Product/88/VITARA- ... -LOCK.aspx |

Two comments (ok - questions really) ... 1 - Is that a locker, an LSD or an LSD Locker? Incidentally - what is an LSD Locker - is it a locker that is an LSD when unlocked? 2 - Do you know what happens to a GV front axle when you lock it? Quote: Any other parts needed to fit it? My guess would be free wheeling front hubs (at the very least), and hopefully a cast-iron axle housing and upgraded CV axles. |

In the case of improving traction in the sand I would think an lsd would be ideal vs a locked or open diff. Loosness and tightness depending on grip. Also if it was in the front would this not dramatically improve understeer in the sand? With the rear open' I'll like to off road but I'm not into crawling but want to be unboggable in the sand |

10psi and under plus rpm should see you pretty hard to bog in the sand although the gv has a fatass rear pumpkin you should be fine in most scenarios provided you dont go to big in tyre size, ive seen gv's explode cvs on sand with 245/75r16 so id stay under that size |

225/75R16, under body bash plate to stop the front cross member becoming a snow plow, mild lift, correct tyre pressures, if you are still getting bogged it's probably the ass in the seat not the vehicle. |

You pretty much detailed my car. Except 235/60r16 soon to be 225/70r16. I've never run them that low. Usually 15. Next time I'll go a bit lower. |

What Gus and Henno said, dont be scared to go as low as 8psi and you won't have any issue's. |

so tax return is on its way and about to buy the lsd for my rear from zookoffroad. Front was redone recently with steel housing but still open diff. Anything I should be aware of before committing? I know I need different oil and apparently there is a bearing that I can change while it's out? |

Might be a delay on getting one, i was sent the wrong one and I'm still waiting on it being replaced the whole covid thing has fucked them over there |

There are four bearings that I would want to consider changing whilst I have it apart - two pinion bearings and two carrier bearings - pinion bearing replacement will also require a new crush sleeve to set the preload. |

30ONA wrote: technobedlam did it change the on road characteristics? The steering gets heavier under accerleration while cornering. It's progressive and minimal. It doesn't get particularly heavy and doesn't interfere but can be felt. The 4xfourart guys say you can't feel them. That would be true of the back LSD. I have no idea that is there until you need it. The front is minimal and TBH if you weren't told it was there and tend not to vary cornering acceleration in your driving style, then you might not realise much was going on in front either. So, I'd rate their claim as fair for rear installs but not if you install them on the front too. |
