| Post subject: | Engine bottom end - what to do? |
Alright folks, G13A out of Longbaser. I've been doing some fair work to this and the deeper I get the more I want to do. So!! I've taken the crank out and was thinking of replacing all the crank and Conrod bearings. Questions 1. Given that I'm not sure I'm equiped to measure the crank for Shaft runout (or am I?) should I be running this to the machine shop for their opinion or leave it alone? Question 2. Replace crank and conrod bearings with original spec or seek to find if I need undersize (FSM says they are available in 0.25mm undersize) Question 3. Now bear in mind I've not much experience this deep in the engine. When the pistons move within the bore I'm getting an air sound past the rings. There appears to be a poofteenth high ridge at the bottom of the ring stroke so the bore has worn slightly. Do I replace the rings, leave it the hell alone or another option? Any pointers or tips to consider here are welcome. Oh and question 4. Any brand or supplier of the bearings and parts to consider or steer clear of? Thanks all |

![]() Sneaky in bore pic. Hmmm.. thinking maybe of taking the head off too and measuring bore-piston gap. Seeing if a re-bore is recommended |
