Hi There,

Im a newbie on this site. Ive got a 2004 GV V6 H25A 5 speed manual (5 door) that needs the diff replaced. I can get hold of a diff from a 2000 GV 4 cylinder J20A 5 speed manual (3 door). Need some tech advice on whether this would be compatible with ratios ect. If anyone could direct me to some useful links or has some answers that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Fryzie.

The handy answer is nope. Yours will be 4.3 and the 3 door J20 will be 4.8... Also the housing in the 3 door will be alloy so you would want to go setting the whole diff again in your steel housing at which point you've lost any financial advantage of a wrecker dive for parts.

Thanks for the reply Henno, much appreciated. Would a diff from a 2004 V6 H25A Auto be compatible or is the ratio different again?

I think you will find that is a 4.6 ratio. I think. I'd check but I am at work, so this is just being plucked from my memory.

That *might* be a steel housing though being a late model auto (although I'd definitely check), so if it was cheap enough you could always swap both the front and rear diffs which would allow you to go a big bigger in tyre size, also.

Personally, I'd be finding a 4.3 ratio out of a manual V6 GV. They are literally everywhere, and the most common ratio. It's almost odd that you are finding all of the other ones.
