Hey guys,
I've recently acquired a 1994 Vitara JX with the g16B motor. The motor seems to be using a tiny bit of water and the oil is quite milky (especially in the head under the rocker cover). The head was crack tested, decked and a new head gasket installed approximately 5000km ago. I have done a compression test and it has 195PSI in all 4 cylinders so I'm not sure it's the head gasket. I have read somewhere that there are 3 plugs underneath the cam that leak slightly. Anyone had similar issues or can suggest what it may be?

Some aftermarket headgaskets need to be retorqued.
I have had this issue a few times.
The g16b camshaft is in the way, so its a bit or work to retorque the head.

The g16b blocks have a tendency to crack, could be cracked between oil and water jackets etc.

I acquired a g16b head, which had the welch plugs welded up to prevent leaking.

I would be overtorquing that head gasket again and try get it to seal up again

Ah I got if for free so I don't really want to spend too much money on it. I'll try re-torque the head and see how it goes. If not I'll just throw a bottle of head gasket fix down it's throat.

Just retorquing it wont do now its leaking
You really need to crank them up.
If book says 45nm then go 65nm
You dont really have anything to loose at this point in time

Ok, I'll give it a good tighten and see how it goes. I changed the oil and ran it and it doesn't seem like there is a whole lot of water getting in the oil. It only seems to be in the rocker cover which is leading me to believe it may be one of the freeze/welch plugs

Milk always finds its way to the rocker cover. A sump full of hot oil mean water evaporates to the highest point of the motor.

I've had milk under the cam cover and up dipstick tube.

Changed oil, still got milk up dipstick tube and used lots of coolant

Changed (2nd)head gasket, Changed oil. Still got milk up dipstick tube, used lots of coolant and now cam was shiny clean from coolant washing

This is on a block with 170kmish and a fresh rebuilt head 20,000k//3.5yrs ago when the car was engineered/fresh rego

Changed motor, 173km, freshish NEW head from 130km by Suzuki history. No oil up dipstick tube, No oil under cam cover, More power, and guess what

It still uses coolant FFS.

This is why Bin was suggested. Sure you can waste time trying to fix it. From now on, for me, The time is better spent looking for another car/motor and the next for future. Where we're going Marty, We don't need roads.

Good point, Never crossed my mind actually. The g16 are suprisingly hard to find around here haha. Ill just keep driving it as is and keep my eye out for a new motor.

So, the rocker cover gasket was pinched, Timing belt spring was in my in the correct spot and it was pissing oil from the Cam seal. Hopefully theyve done something half arsed on the gasket or something.
