Post subject:  Suzuki SJ80 Tyre Clearance

I own a 1998 Suzuki SJ80 wanting to fit a set of 235/75 R15 muds on it or 29inches (ish). Already placing next to car theyre going to rub alot. Im wanting to find out what i should do to clear the guards/body from them. Ive weighed up body lift and also suspension both have pros and cons. long story short whats the most cost effective (inc labor from mechanic) and good quality parts ect. Basically how would you go about this if you were in my situation?

Thank you in advance! :)

The con of the suspension lift is it's not really assisting in clearing the tyres at all. It will improve static clearance (as in, with the car level and stationary, but as soon as the suspension starts to flex, the tyres can move into the same positions they could before the lift was fitted.

A 2" body lift will clear them easily.

Some selective hammering of guard seams, and perhaps some small shims under the factory bumpstops will be ample. Also, paying attention to rim offset so the tyres can still tuck under the flares (and scrub radius isn't increased too much) is important.

Cheers for the advice makes alot of sense.

Would you have any recommendations for a 2'' lift kit?

Ive been looking for kits and the black poly spacer ones only seem to come up. Was thinking more towards aluminium spacers or are the poly spacers alright?

Poly ones are fine in QLD. perectly legal and definitly strong enough. Buy through Coliso and support an AUSzookers business

Black poly jobbies are fine. Had a kit on a 94 Vit for getting on to 10 years now.
