Hi Everyone,
I'm looking at replacing the stock rear bumper on my 2002 Jimny.
I would like to get something like the rear bar with swing away tire carrier as seen on ebay.

Does anyone have one of these as im looking for any pros or cons about them.

Would this be a good add on for touring/4wding or not worth the trouble?

Any and all help is much appreciated,

Not worth the lost payload. Most touring jimnys are well over GVM once packed, no reason to add more weight.

The secret to Suzukis is small & light.
If you try to set up a Jimny as a tourer, like you might a Prado as a tourer, you'll end up with a small & heavy car & you will have lost the advantages Suzukis have - might as well started out with a Pajero.
Most 'set up' touring 4wds full stop, are over GVM - this will only be an increasingly bigger issue that the authorities & insurers will focus on in the future.
The rear door of a Jimny seems to be robust enough to deal with a modestly larger than stock tyre / wheel combo, so there is not enough positive reasons to make it a good idea to add a rear bar, but a few negative reasons to make it a bad idea.

I totally recommend not adding any weight. I am even thinking of removing my winch which never gets used. Probably should also never have added the bull bar. When I was planning to do the Simpson I spent a lot of time removing stuff from mine just to get some payload back. Agree totally with not adding unnecessary weight. I went out and got a bigger 4WD for the longer touring trips.

The only good thing about the front bar is you get proper recovery points. We get these really lightweight bars here that I was/am considering as they give you more tire clearance and approach angle without the added weight. The only issue is you don’t get rated recovery points like you would with a winch bumper.

I've never seen a rated recovery point on a bullbar, especially a Jimny bull bar. In truth, I still don't really know what an appropriate rating would be for a recovery point.

Yeah fair called. I should have said a point I would feel comfortable making a recovery from.
