Just bought a Grand Vitara, 3 door, year 2014 with the Garmin Infotainment unit. I'm familiar with Garmin units, had a Nuvi 3450 in my previous car, and use an eTrex20 handheld, know how to access internal folders from my PC, and use mapping systems on my PC. Like many tech gadgets, they've made it user friendly, which as usual, restricts access to useful functions 1 - Updating the Infotainment GPS system and maps. The instructions say to insert a blank SD card to first get the unit's ID. Using a blank formatted SD card gave an error message. Does the SD card need to be unformatted? 2 - With the Nuvi & eTrex20 I could transfer gpx file waypoints to & from my PC, and download tracks to my PC via the micro USB connector. Is there any way to do this with the Infotainment unit? Thanks for any help Gary |
