Hi, Has anyone fitted the Superior Engineering 50mm spacers to the rear of the Gen3 Grand Vitara? Unsure if the spacer gives 50mm of lift to the vehicle ride height - or just jacks the spring by 50mm https://www.superiorengineering.com.au/ ... filter=168 |

I'm not 100% what you're asking A stock NGV will have 50mm* of droop available in the rear suspension at ride height, so adding a spacer will lift the vehicle 50mm* *more on that in a second A spacer doesn't preload the spring against an end stop, increasing ride harshness, unless the suspension is already fully extended at ride height. However, on an NGV the rear spring is on the lower arm so a 50mm spacer won't lift the car 50mm, it will left it some other, larger amount, depending on how far along the arm the spring is. As Chop points out though, I don't believe these spacers aren't for the IRS grand vitara, as far as I am aware. It does't necessarily mean they couldn't be used, but they're not designed for the application. Additionally, as I pointed out above I think a 50mm spacer would provide approximately 100mm of lift at the wheel of they even fitted a NGV. Steve. |

i've jacked the GV3 up so the body lifts 50mm, yet to lift it up to see how much droop i have at each corner. Terrano II shocks are a good swap for more droop when running spacers. given how poorly the vehicles ride on the stiffer thicker springs and the fact i'm not changing the mass i'll stick with stock springs and alter arms before spacers |
