Gearstick in 1990 Suzuki aierra wont go into 1st or 2nd. Goes into 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse fine. There is no grinding of gears at all? Any help |

Have you checked the shift bush and gearstick locator bolt? These are often a contender for problems and a good place to start looking. The shift bush can break down over time and the bolt can snap. Give that a go and report back |

Hi, Yeah I checked the bush etc and that's all fine. I cannot move the 1st/2nd selector finger even with a screws driver. Thinking finding a new gearbox? |

Yeah ok. Could be a few things but try pulling the rear extension housing off and checking if it’s them being restricted. They can burr in spots or perhaps something’s stopping a detent ball from shifting. Off memory first and second run off a single selector rod. Hop on the LROR website and download the instructions for overhauling a gearbox. I’d be pulling the whole gearbox out and tackle it on the bench. You might not need to pull the whole gearbox apart but choose the sections of the instructions that gives you step by step guide to dismantling in re-assembly of the part you want to check. |

Thanks for the help. Pulled the gearbox out and apart. Turns out the detent pin for neutral in the 3/4 selector had broken and was jamming the 1/2nd selector. Made a part to suit and put it all back together. And problem is fixed! |
