Hi all,
To begin with i always found my stock carb ran out of puff after 4000 rpm, Really hated not having and overtaking power when i needed it. pondering engine swaps and mods i decided to do some experimenting. Got myself a Vitara 1.6 carb and manifold and thought i would throw it on the g13BA in my SJ80.
My theory was that if the carb has bigger bores then the jets would also need to be bigger to compensate for more airflow. So i thought i would throw it on and see if it runs at all. Turns out, It runs rather well to my surprise, Thought the jetting would be way off but 95% drive-ability retained.
Bad points:
There is a slight Hesitation full throttle when the transition to the secondary takes place. 3-4K Top hat needs a spacer. Throttle cable not bolt in
Good Points:
Seems to have much better top end power. Pulls happily through to 7000 Throttle response from idle appears better Nice to have a functional choke again Minor adjustments required for idle speed and cold speed idle.
Has anyone else done this? Curios if anyone has played with the jetting.
