I’ve got a 94 model stockman Ute and am wondering if a 1.3lt transfer will bolt straight onto a 1.0lt. Thanks |

Yes, but ratios are different. People generally do the swap the other way (put a 1lt transfer in a 1.3lt Sierra) to give a slight gear reduction and compensate for slightly bigger than standard tyres. |

No worries I might be able to get a 1.3 one with 6.5 gears to get the gearing better with 31 inch tyres. |

You might have to swap tailshaft flanges on the transfer case depending what model it came out of. The casing and shaft splines are the same. Other than the flanges it's a direct replacement bolt in swap, I've done it a couple of times. |

The question that begs me is why you want to do it? Are you trying to change your gearing or have you got a spare 1.3 transfer case laying about that’s in better condition than your 1.0 TF case? I think that before you go swapping your transfer case or try buying 6.5 reduction gears I urge you to have a think about what it is you’re trying to achieve and put the time into figuring out how to achieve that goal with minimum drawbacks. Info that is important; What tyres are you running? Is there any modification to the gearing on the diffs or gearbox? What the vehicle is going to be used for (a Rock crawler will require a different setup to a daily driver or predominantly highway use)? For example, if you’re running stock size tyres with no diff or GB gearing mods and 6.5 gearing it will unlikely be usable on the highway (without crunching the numbers) as it will rev very high. Give us a bit more info and we might be able to help. |
