Hey all,

I need to upgrade my cooling system on the sierra. My radiator is stuffed and she is getting hot with the g16b under the bonnet. A few questions....

1. What raidiator should I buy: Stock radiator, or alloy radiator. They are around the same price, I see the benefits of the alloy, however I am nervous about electrolysis... what is your opinions, or experience, how to mount alloy?

2. Thermo controller setup. Currently i have a mechanical thermo controller, works great but the probe being pushed in between the inlet and the hose leaks. So, I have a threaded controller kit similar to: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/THERMO-FAN- ... SwSlBY4LCb

And was planning on using a gauge sensor adapter similar to:

However I have been told that because the sensor in this setup is earthed through the thread and because I will need to earth the adapter it will cause me electrolysis problems.


So, now I am nervous to do anything!!!!!

Stock radiator, vitara viscous hub fan from the G16b, Sierra shroud. Won’t overheat.

It’s most likely overheating because of the thermo fan.

That'll do, but I dislike plastic tanked radiators with aluminium cores - They're fragile.

Personally, I'd find a stock copper radiator in better condition or get yours reconditioned, but I understand they're hard to find now. MUCH more robust and repairable than an aluminium cored radiator.

I'd still put the blame at the thermo before the radiator though.
