Hi Guys, EDIT: WOOHOO - Sept 20 - vehicles with ESC will be able to go 50+25 http://statements.qld.gov.au/Statement/ ... 4wd-owners Given the 4wd defects handed out recently in QLD I read up on the vehicle modification code - looks like the typical "legal for 50mm tyre diameter increase and 50mm suspension increase without engineering" is not applicable if you have ESC. Reading further the AAAA has confirmed that 50mm suspension increase is legal in most states of Australia for vehicles with ESC, but not QLD, and no tyre increase is legal in a vehicle with ESC. given i'm looking at tyre increases, what's the biggest optioned tyre on a New Grand Vitara? Anyone else had issues re: ESC with fitting larger tyres? 225/70-16 is 721.4mm 225/65-17 is 724.3mm 225/60-18 is 727.2mm so much for sticking those 245/75-16 mud-monsters on >:D |

Mine came with 225/60r18 = 726mm, fitted cross terrain's in a 235/60r18 = 739mm |

I still have a complete set of stock alloys & tyres, bet it sucks to be in qld right now. |

I can see the NSW border from here - might be time for a tactical rego-change |

My understanding is total lift 50mm regardless of combo of tyres and suspension on esc fitted vehicles. |

This was my understanding of vsb14 as well, which is why I went with a combo of 40mm dobinsons lift and 225/75 r16 tyres, which gave an overall lift of 50mm (on paper, real world will of course depend on inflation, load etc.) The thing about all this is that it really is not clear what is legal/not legal both over time and where you live. |

vsb14 is very clear, you can lift 50mm suspension and +25mm as long as you are in alignment with LS09 or LS10 without needing to be certified for LS09 or LS10- LS09 and LS10 DEMAND that you PROVE that the ESC system has not been compromised or is approved by the manufacturer when altering wheels or ride height. i recon 225/75-16 would be able to be snuck given the 70 VS 75 profile, but the 245/75-16's would be out. I'm going to keep watching as the AAAA did the hard-yards on the +50mm portion - they might do the +25mm bit too |
