Hi all

my sierra has developed a rather nasty sounding metallic squeak when going over corrugations and bumps at speed. sounds like its coming from the front end somewhere. i recently replaced the front bushes in the suspension and the spring packs look clean, and pressing down statically on the suspension doesnt make the sound. is it possible that it could be the front clip, or the bonnet rattling around a bit?

Cheers
Damo

Sounds like it could be anything really!!

If you’ve done the suspension bushes then by best guess has been covered, although have you checked the sway bar bushes?

The other thing that can often cause squeeking is Uni joints.. exhaust rubbing on something..

Process of elimination, hard to say exactly what it is by description only.

im fairly confident its not in the suspension, dont have a sway bar, and there doesnt seem to be any contact between the engine/exhaust and the body. i took the grille and vertical grille supports out and went for a drive, the sound was much worse even just driving on road, so im thinking its something loose in the front clip or the bonnet. ill play around with it and see what happens
