I just moved my jimny to the front of the house got out jumped back in and went to start it, it won’t start.
Now just to clarify, im in Australia and this is a 99 model 1.3. In Once you turn the ignition on you must press the button on the key then the dash lights come on and you can start the car. Now went I push the button nothing happens, also the door lock button does nothing when pushed. I immediately asumed the battery on the key was flat so I replaced it and the light on the key show when it’s push but still nothing. I then checked the c/lock fuse and it was all good. I’m at a real loss, I understand the immobiliser and c/lock are connected but are at a loss as to what to go for next. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks Matt

Is it the factory immobilser or an aftermarket one?
Mum had a part break off the circuit board on hers with the factory immobiliser which gave the same symptoms you describe. She had an auto electrician solder it back together.

That sounds after-market to me - every factory system I've used senses the presence of the key/fob in the vehicle without needing any buttons pressed.
As an example, if my GV is parked outside and not locked, I just open the door, get in, turn the knob over the ignition switch, dash lights come on, engine cranks & starts, and the key never comes out of my pocket - if the car is locked I push the button on the door to unlock it, and everything else remains the same.
The above holds true for the Mitsubishi, Toyota & Nissan vehicles that I have driven.

I’m not sure TBH if its after market or factory. It also has an alarm if you open the door so I suspect aftermarket. Basically there is a lock button and another one that you push once the ignition is switched on that allows it to start. The dash lights won’t even come on til you push this button. What’s so strange is it’s happen all of a sudden, also too the central locking has stopped working, even to the point of not working when I open the drivers door with the key, usually the other door will unlock when you turn the key manually. All this has me suspecting the actual button and circuit board on the key ring is fine. Is there maybe a receiver that has a fuse or rely that controls the C/locking and immobiliser?

Does the central locking and imobiliser run off the same relay or fuse??

Every car that won’t go for no reason the first question asked in the NT is has it ever been registered in WA. The dodgy immobilisers they have to fit for rego always play up in the tropics
