Even though the M18 conversion is rather common, it seems that very few people actually do more than run it on the stock Jimny M13 ecu. I was hoping to start a slightly educated discussion on getting the M18 running correctly (ie. correct fuel trims, AFR's, Load etc). I'm currently experimenting with the M13 and M18 parts to get the above figures as close as possible before i investment in a piggy back or stand alone ECU. So far i'm having decent progress with the following: M18 Block+Head M18 Intake manifold M18 Throttle Body M13 ECU M13 Exhaust (soon to change) M13 injectors M13 Intake piping, air filter and MAF sensor I'm currently getting decent AFR's and fuel trims but i need to fix the engine load as it seems to be over reading the figures causing the ECU to go open loop to soon/frequently. I believe the engine load is incorrect due to more air being sucked through the original sized intake/MAF. My plan is to change the MAF reading by adding a resistor to the MAF's signal wire and allowing the ECU to TRIM the closed loop fueling to the correct AFRs but having the engine load be reduced to the reduced MAF reading. The Jimny runs both MAF and MAP sensors and I'm assuming MAF is used to calculate load. Can anyone confirm this? I'm also building a ECU data logger currently so i can get actual figures from the ECU and my wideband sensor, rather than just looking at the gauges while driving. Feel free to chip in if you have any suggestions or experience. |

Ive swapped the M13 injectors back to the M18 injectors. The fuel trims with the M13 injectors have been great but the afr has been leaning out too much under low RPM and high load. I prefer too rich over too lean.  I still haven't gotten around to trying to fool the ECU into reading a correct load, hopefully this weekend. |

Looking forward to results Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I had problems with my obd2 adapter not working on the Jimny (even though it works on the wifes Swift) so I've ordered a different adapter which is meant to arrive today but UPS have informed me my house doesn't exist... I also picked up a X90 on the cheap so I've been distracted with that. |
