new u bolts, new shackle rubbers and will go with the como hiace shocks
is there anything else i need?
are extended shackles needed?

got one from my local spares shop $19 dearer at supa cheep per shock
by part number saving $76

what about brake lines will thay need to be extended

you will need extended front bump stops, anywhere from 10-40mm. check compressed & extended length of shocks first. front brake lines up to 4" inches longer. not sure with rear shocks. this is what i"ve found researching same set-up. hope this helps.

Only thing cheaper about supacheap is their quality. When I first got my zook, I checked my air filter late in the arvo and found it was badly deteriorated. Went into supacheap and they wanted $45 for a Sierra air filter!!! I thought fawk that!!! so I raced up to my usual parts place before they closed. Picked one up for $15

i will be fitting these next week
when new extended brake lines turn up
the leaf packs have 5 leafs in each front and rear (medium)
i have a 40kg steel bar,winch ect on the front
should i remove 1 or 2 leafs for comfort on road
as its my day to day car i dont usualy carry a lot of wieght
thinking of removing 2nd from bottom and see how it goes
could someone help with advice on this?

I installed the softer (which I think are the medium) OME springs in mine a while ago. I left them standard and they are quite comfortable with the correct air pressure of 22psi in my tyres. The car flexes pretty well also. As you're putting a heavy bar and winch on the front of yours, don't take any leaves out, they should be soft enough. Also, don't need extended brake lines to run 2" springs, but you will need to extend bumpstops to run the commo/hiace shock setup or else you will end up bottoming out and possibly snapping the shocks

i will run them as is and see what happens. the bars been on for
6 months or so. brake lines have been ordered and paid for so
i will put them on. bumpstops i,ll measure them up and make em
when its all bolted together.
reason for brake lines is to stop any problems that may happen even in extreme flex situations i hate surprises from the car!
get enough problems from the driver.

You don't need the extended Brake lines for a 2inch lift with 2inch longer shocks but you might with the longer commodore hiace shocks. so its a good idea anyway.

gotta remember to slow a little for the bends':oops:')
only been light 4b so far feels better
not bottoming out a spring or two is somthing new

I just got a couple of HD rear OME springs to replace my old, sagged, broken in half springs.

Pretty impressed with them, however 6 leaves in the HD springs I only had 4 leaves before. Which probable explains why I snapped one in half . I decided to take a leaf out on the passenger side but leave the 6 leaves in the drivers side to try counter the killer sierra lean I had.

One thing I found which surprised me was that the centre pin was 1" forward of the springs I did have in the rear Which means that my old springs (GRP brand) had the hole 1" rear of stock, which isnt a bad thing, but it was an interesting find

With the hilux/commodore shock setup, you may need to extend your bumpstobs a little further. My front ones had to be extended around 50mm to stop the shocks from bottoming out.
I'm currently thing of changing shocks to something designed for a Suzuki, so I can reduce the size of the bumpstops. It still flexes ok, but limits uptravel somewhat.

You only need a 25mm bumpstop spacer in the front to stop them bottoming out.

In regards to the lack up uptravel. Uptravel is overrated, its the droop ya want. When your car is on the bumpstops its nice and stable. I only have about 2" of uptravel in the front. Helps to stop the tyres eating the guards too

Not sure why, but if I put 25mm bumpstop spacers in the front of mine, the shocks bottom out way before the diff rests on the bumpstops

just on the bumpstop questions here.i had commy rears up front blew em to bits cos i was too lasy to make spacers.Then got a new set both for vs wagon n the 2nd set needs the 50mm the first set only the 25mm.

At supercheap this morning cos i now have a busted rear shock and it appears there is 2 different 2wd hilux ones i can use,one longer than other so ill have to see what ones i allready have and make spacers for the rear too.

Im with rockhopper too on doing away with lux/commop setup and going something better or just zuk shocks possibly?
