I am considering putting a rooftop tent on my hardtop suzuki sierra sj410 and am concerned that it will make the vehicle too top heavy and also if it would create too much wind drag. If anyone has put a rooftop tent on their suzuki i would love to know if it is too top heavy or catches too much wind. Thanks

You are bang on with your thinking. And your a pillars will crack.

Sleep on the ground in a swag. If it's uncomfortable, drink more tins and repeat process

I’ve been camping a few times with a couple that have a roof top tent on their hardtop coily.

Yes the wind drag greatly increases fuel consumption.
Yes they do get blown around with side winds even more then hardtop Sierras normally do.
Yes it does make an unstable coily even more top heavy and unstable.

But.....
That coily with a roof top tent did all of the tracks and got to all of the camp sites that we did.

And....
That coily with a roof top tent made it from cairns to the cape and back without any dramas.

I too have been on a long trip - to the cape with all the hard bits, alongside a soft top coily with an internal rack / cage, supporting 2 x swags up top - it broke (R/H/R control arm) & looked lifting wheels scary where other Sierras & an LJ didn't.
I would find a different way, or a different car.
You are only playing with 1.0litre of pure Adrenalin to start with, it will already likely be too heavy without adding roof top tent drag - maybe bearable if you only go down hills, don't want to go above 80km/h or overtake anything.
