Hi All,
I have the intermittent starter issue, works with the whack to it, and yes i have done the relay upgrade.
I am looking on ebay at starters, seems to be cheaper one for $80, and a bosch one for $150.
I am curious to know the following
1) is it worth pulling out the solenoid to clean it, is that hard to do? 2) Is it worth just replacing the solenoid, or just do the whole bit together (starter + solenoid) 3) Any comments on the choice of replacement? Cheap ok or go for bosch etc?
Thanks, chris

Replace it. For the cost it isn’t worth dicking around with crappy parts. Easy enough to change them over and you’ve got a starter you can trust. Just rule out the problem being a bad earth or something first.
While I’d automatically say go for Bosch, cheap is exactly that. Cheap. I have had a couple of starters that I’ve got from eBay for around the 100 clam mark and I haven’t had any problems with them thus far!
