Hi all,
I went to adjust the bakes on my SJ50 yesterday and realized quickly that I had NFI what I was doing. ::)
I wanted to adjust the hand brake wich are on the rear wheels >:(
Anyway when I pulled off the drum I reallized that there is no adjuster. The only thing that I can see that remotely resembles an adjuster is in the pick below. It has some sort of ratchet on it which I assume is an auto adjuster.
Is there another way to adjust the brakes and hand brake?
cheers
Hutch

Yes that thing is the auto adjuster. You can adjust the cable length at the handbrake lever, where it comes out under the vehicle.

they adjsut themselves and work very well

make sure your shoes arent worn and your drums arent oversize, then clean all that gunk and rust our of there and free all the bits up with some never seize on that ratchet

to adjsut, loosen the handbrake cable right off, pump the brakes a few times to adjust themselves up, then do up the handbrake cable again, if that doesnt work your shoes are probably worn out

I got new shoes this arvo, cleaned it all up and fitted em. But the old shoes were about 50% so that was not the prob. If you look closely in the pic you might recognise that a return spring is missing. :P

so I need to find one of these now.

I'll have one kicking around somewhere.
