I upgraded my front speaker about 1yr ago for something abit better and installed a better headunit.
But im now anting to get a decent set of component speakers to install but they all come in sizes bigger than the 4inch jimny speaker.
Just woundering has anyone fitted bigger speakers in the front somehow and how did you do it?

Generally if it doesn't fit in the factory hole you either cut the hole bigger, or make a spacer. Not sure about Jimny, but Sierra kick panels (front) fit a 6" speaker just fine. Only thing to watch it the depth of the speaker. Narrower the better obviously, and while you have the factory ones out, throw in some dynamat to soak up the tinny drumming vibrations you're about to experience with bigger/louder speakers.

IMO, you're best to pop the factory speakers out, measure up the space and hole you're working with then head down to the local stereo shop to see what'll fit that has the right wattage for your head unit. I was incredibly surprised at the quality and volume from some 4" speakers in the shop when I replaced mine, but ended up with some clearance 6" speakers that were half the price and sounded "OK" (because I just need to hear it over the engine, tcase, tyres, soft top flapping).

Kenwood used to do 4" components, not certain if they still do - a bit weak in the bass as you would expect, but superb when used as mids with an active sub - I ran them in the dash mounts on a Swift.

I ran a sub in my old 89 WT and when you turned up the volume at idle you could see the revs drop on the tacho!
