Post subject:  Jimny Front Speed Sensor Mystery
Sorry if this is a bit of a newb question and I don't explain very well, my knowledge is basic:

In Lerderderg the other week I managed to break one of my front ABS speed sensor cables.
Ordered this aftermarket one to replace:

Jimny detects that it's plugged in, but not detecting any speed at the wheels, fail.

The mechanic that installed the new one noticed the sensor looked different to the original one.

Weird thing is, all the photos I can find online (aftermarket or genuine) look like the replacement I ordered, not the supposedly original one.

We're confused.
Can anyone tell me which one of these looks like the correct sensor?

Compare the length of the sensor from the mount face to the tip - the ABS system will do two tests - the first test at power up is a basic resistance test, to see if the sensors are present - this test can be fooled by wiring a resistor in place of the sensor. The second test checks to see if the sensors are working - it looks for a pulse train, that will be the one you're failing - the sensor may be too far from the tone wheel to reliably detect the teeth.

As already said, Check the length of the sensor, The tip of the sensor should be no more than 1mm away from the reluctor ring when fitted. Fitting a new sensor will not always immediately clear a fault light on the dash.
You will need to drive the car for the abs computer to check the wheel speed of all four sensors, If it's ok the fault light should go out after a short distance once you go over 10 mph.
