I'm having a starter issue with my 2016 ly vitara m16a auto,

cranks for a long time before it will start, happens more when cold start.
sometime it stalls just as it starts.
The car seems to has a miss at 4000rpm in park/neutral but not under load (driving).

Ive done a compression test and all seemed good,
replaced the battery (made no change),
ive check and the fuel is priming,
There are not issues with check engine light,
OBD reader that says no errors.

Once it's started it runs well.
Any ideas would be much appreciated

Alright, since no-one else has had a go, I'll have a crack.
You are probably the 1st person on here to own & post a problem with theses new Vitaras.
I have no direct experience with this car.
But, from your symptoms, I would be checking fuel pressure with a gauge.
Admittedly older cars than 4 years, can have this sort of issues with the fuel draining back into the tank because the check valve is blocked open or faulty.
The fuel pump is on a timed relay (might be controlled by the ecu in your car) so that it will run for a few seconds, but if the key isn't turned further to crank, the the relay will time out & shut the pump off.
It might not have built pressure to the injector rail in this time, as the pump shut off has nothing to do with priming or pressure.

Thanks for you're replay Michael,
I've found the problem is the injectors,

I originally thought it was the injectors so I had them tested and was told they were 100% perfect,
So went on the hunt again and posted on here.
Brought a new battery, new plugs, changed a few sensors, priming it a few time before starting, to no success.
Went with my gut swapped the injectors over any way, and it worked

Hope this will help others with the same starting problems across all EFI cars not just vitaras
