G'day has anyone fitted stronger/bigger windscreen hinges and made stronger mounts in the body and windscreen frame to bolt them to? the windscreen when its not supported flexes a lot and i'm worried that the hinges will tear out of the tub. lj's have no targa bar or roll bar from stock so how to they mount the windscreen? Cheers Jack jr. |

The hinge does not secure the windscreen on either an LJ or a Sierra, it's MEANT to flex. Won't matter how strong or how much bigger you make it, it is still a hinge and will pivot about it's axis. The clamps on the side of the dash on a Sierra are what secure the windscreen. You can adjust these a small amount to increase the clamping force. but if they've stretched or worn, they won't be much good. If you're real keen, you could bash the hook part (attached to the windscreen) to close it up a little to tighten it, but maybe replacement is the only proper fix. The LJ's use a solid piece of angle bolted to both the body and the windscreen. Sierra is a more user-friendly set-up. |

Agreed 303. The whole frame has quite a lot of spring in it if the tie bars above the doors are removed. |
