Here's something I've been mulling over. People seem to love adding extra gauges to their cars, even if they're meaningless, confusing, or duplicate an existing gauge, how come I've never seen anyone run a coolant pressure gauge? This seems to me to be an excellent way of troubleshooting how much headroom you have in the cooling system, if there is a coolant leak or head gasket failure, and might actually be more sensitive than a temperature gauge at around boiling. It might also be more meaningful if you're resting the car to cool it down - if the pressure has dropped in the system, you have your headroom back.
I have masses of cooling capacity in my car so I don't think I need to bother, but that's not always the case in a Sierra with a front mounted radiator.
