Shouldn't need to be touched for many years unless you're filling from jerry cans etc regularly.

Can't see why filling with jerry cans is a problem? Maybe if they were the old school steel ones, that could cause an issue with the rust inside.
I often fill some of my cars with jerry cans (Plastic) and all is good.

More handling, more chance of dust on and around the lid, more chance of debris in a funnel, more chance of debris falling off the can and into the funnel when filling, and yes, with some poor quality steel cans, paint etc from the inside of the can. Nothing wrong with german made NATO spec steel cans, they're spotless inside.

In any case, the fuel filter on a 2YO car isn't really a service item.

I agree with all that hey....but I still need to know what to do about servicng this...and how you go about it. The long term thinking atm is to do the big lap...when we can ???..Sell the patrol and our 18 foot van...get a smaller van or poptop and tow with Suzuki on shorter trips. Now I have had a problem with dirty fuel in outback NSW a while back....and was able to change fuel filter coz I was carrying spare....so knowing what to do and having a spare is a no brainer for me anyway.......
so anyone on here know how to get at this filter please?? And dont say get a workshop manual...thete are none available for this model...and the online ones dont cover any GV newer than about 2015..plus my dealer says I cant access the dealer one...

Cheers Keith
