Hey folks, Anyone know if an SJ80 coily body is a direct fit onto a leaf sprung sierra chassis? Even with the difference in styling maybe they kept the body mount locations and gearbox tunnel holes etc all the same between models?  The only difference in body besides styling may be the holes to access the top of the front shocks? Or is that the same with the leaf sprung models... I only have messed around with an SJ80. Yes has been done all body mounts are the same. |

Was this only between the early 1980's zooks and the later 1990's ones? I have an SJ80 body that is ok'ish (depends on your perspective!) that I might fix up and put on a leafy chassis - if I can't find a leaf sprung sierra to buy... |

Seatbelt bolt holes aren't relevant as they have nothing to do with the chassis. Yes, there were changes in seatbelt mounts over the years, most notably between NT and WT when inertia reel belts became standard. I recall the SJ80 buckle is on the seat rail, not the floor, but again, that has nothing to do with the chassis. Unless you're starting a ground-up build, you'll really want to use an SJ70 chassis as the axle width is closer to the SJ80, and the body mounts are compatible. Yes, the coil sierra has different inner front guards to clear the top of the shocks. That won't matter with the leaf sprung chassis. |

So the build up can begin once I strip it and then run it into the sandblasters. On a side note: what's the best chassis paint people are using in OZ? I want something super anti-corrosion... |

Same springs and shackles. Its just the mounts that are different. |
