So, the new "Jimny Lite" has just been released. Has anyone ordered one? I test drove a GLX the other day, brought back some good memories The dealer said the GLX is $32990 drive away. The "Lite" is $30990 drive away. The differences being: Lite has steel wheels, no reverse camera and CD/radio instead of touchscreen. halogen headlights and different side mirrors. Picture shows no foglights, but wouldn't they be necessary for ADR? He said there is a 3-6 month wait for the "Lite", which means it would probably arrive sooner than a GLX.

They have been out in NZ from when the new model was released. I have seen a few driving round and they still have bumper lights. You also don’t get a light in the boot ant you don’t get a leather wrapped steering wheel. But over here they are around $27000 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a terrible buy. 2K is nowhere near enough difference to justify the loss of content. Front and/or rear foglights are not an ADR requirement as far as I am aware. They are in lots of markets which is why we commonly see them here, but it's not an ADR thing.

If it were $5k cheaper, then I would be seriously thinking about it. I think Suzuki are taking advantage of the high demand / long wait times... I'll do some more research before I put a deposit down on a white GLX. My mod list so far: 235's, reduction gears, rear locker, turbo and a fully sik exhaust

Sierra tcase swap ? Haha i like the look of them but suzuki traction control in previous gv/jimny models has hampered me greatly on some surfaces so i will need to reserve judgement until i can see first hand how it performs. There is also the tcase stretching/noise issue i would like to see resolved before i might commit and buy one.

The only gears I’ve found for JB74 t-case are at least 17% reduction in high range. This is too high for me. This setup in my old Zook got me everywhere (and sometimes further) than I wanted to go. Can the traction control be turned off / overridden?

Previous models it would come back on over 40 kmphr and sometimes just randomly when it felt like it. Fast gravel corners, long beach climbs it when you need momentum but instead got a brake on one of the front wheels was pretty dangerous at least for me. Having not driven one of the new ones they may have put more effort into getting it right but i doubt it.

I would love the new Jimny, my bank account does not agree. I cannot justify 45k on a Jimny with the right mods. - Thats just me though. I'm happy to wait until they're 20k used. Guess ill be waiting a while....

If the TC is anything like the NGV traction control it's as useful as a raw prawn in the heater box. I found the same thing with late(ash) model Subaru TC. Oddly though, 15 years ago my STi subaru had Bosch ABS which was incredibly good, and TC is only ABS backwards, so it's all calibration. TC doesn't have to be bad, my 2013 Defender had very, very good TC. Not sure whose system it was but the calibration was excellent. We used to have a Bosch technical trainer in our club who said TC could be tuned down to 5% slip, which would feel very tight.

Here we go, not ideal, but a 7% reduction in high and 77% in low is pretty close to the old 4.16 gears. Would probably be similar cost to finding a decent Sierra t-case and installing gears... But are they as strong? https://protrack.gr/en/results-page/no-category/jb74

Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a "stretching" issue - I've had it, literally from day one, and the noise occurs only in first gear at a very specific rpm, which suggests to me, that it is a resonance thing between the chain under tension and the vibration from the engine at that particular rpm. I have yet to discuss it with my local dealer, the car goes in for it's first service this week, which is when I plan to raise it, I doubt I'll get the "fix" done before the end of the year.

Zeal from Prostaff in Japan do heaps of gear sets for the new Jimnys. They do the same 77% low only gears for the latest models that I had in my old 2012 Jimny. They also now go right up to 50% high and 270% low. Depending on your tyre size, a manual JB74 with their set having a final ratio of Hi:1,320 / Low: 4,690 should go pretty good.

Just thought I say my parents are picking up a Jimny lite Friday this week should be interesting to see how they drive.
