Post subject:  steering box adjustment...... HELP!

Ive heard you can adjust the amount of play in your steering box. ive also heard you can damage it by over adjusting.

Im guessing that its the wormscrew/locknut on top?????

my theory is i loosen the lock nut and turn the worm screw in??

ive tried downloading workshop manuals but they never seem to work or i never get the steering section grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

anyone done this? cheers

Loosen the lock nut and turn the screw until it is JUST firm (NOT TIGHT) and then tighten lock nut... Would probably be a good idea to take the lid off the box while you are at it and pack as much fresh grease in there as you can.

Oil is OK but relies on the seals being in good nick to keep it in...We 4wd'ers tend to go places that will chew seals out. EG: Mud.
By filling the box with Molybdenum DiSulphide grease there is SFA chance of it ever losing any.

Yes Sam, commonly referred to as 'Moly' grease.
Although if you go to a lube specialist and just ask for Moly grease they will ask you which type of Molybdenum you want as there are a few varieties.
