Broke the thread off the steering damper today which was the final straw in me cutting the whole pipe inside the chassis rails. anyone replaced this pipe at all??????????????
I have another chassis with a much better piece, was thinking of runnig a smaller diameter pipe right through for a bit of extra bracing. Thoughts :?:

I tore that mount right off once (don't mistake "tie down point" for "tow point"). There is a off the shelf size of pipe that fits in there perfect.

I'd cut the old broken piece out flush with the inside of the chassis rails and then do the same to remove the replacement piece from the other chassis..
I'd drill a few 10-12mm holes through the new piece, put it in place and then slide another pipe inside it.. Plug weld the replacement to the sleeve and weld to chassis.. Will be stronger than the original piece.

I had a similar prob, but on my zook(sj80 coily) there was no mount,so welded in a High tensle bolt  work a treat!

seems not to common then.

Unique- I would of just welded another one in but the whole tube had been done shitty.

Want33's- That is my plan to tube it in the guts & re-weld the whole bloody thing nicely ( well nicely as my bird shit will allow....lol).

Even for undamaged tubes it's worth sleeving it to strengthen it up, we've just done this to a number of vehicles. Bruce or Royce know what size is required, I thought I did but was proven wrong, there I said, even in writing.
