Looking for options and advise on how to fix the rear end sag on my 3dr GV 2015 when fully loaded for camping. She sits very low. I don’t do a lot of off road stuff, more up and down the beach when we’re away so a suspension lift could be an option but not necessarily a must. I’ve had recommendations of installing rear springs from a 5 door GV which will apparently give me an extra 200kg - has anyone done this before? Airbag Man has also been recommended. Can anyone shed some light if they’ve gone down that avenue? Any other options? Thanks in advance
If you fit a stiffer spring it impacts ride comfort when unloaded - because the air bags are adjustable, they are probably your best bet - add air when needed, let it out when you don't.
The idea of being able to use "OE" parts for an upgrade can be attractive, especially if the parts can be sourced cheaply, perhaps as a discard from someone who has fitted uprated springs, but an additional 200kg of load capacity is going to be a significantly stiffer spring, I've done spring upgrades (on other vehicles) and you need to be very careful with the increased spring rates, the idea of being able to carry additional load is nice, but it has it's drawbacks.
I'd say an extra 200kg is going quite likely to be "bone jarring" unloaded.
