G'day all

Long (long long) time reader, first time poster. Have owned a '95 sierra since I had my L plates (and I'm a little over 30 now...). After dealing with way way too much nonsense (education, work etc) I'm finally starting to work on the thing and drive it consistently off road again.

Anyway, I've always wanted to move to 16 inch rims - I appreciate the issues with a thicker sidewalls, but I'm looking for a bit more height, without going ever wider- seem to land on my pumpkins a lot these days - I'm driving with patrols and cruisers on 35s a lot of time, and I'm pretty good at finding a way but its getting ever harder. (On 235/75/15s).

I'm thinking 16x6 steelies mounting 750.r16s or 235/85/16s. I appreciate 16s off vits might work, but I ran across these from europe:https://www.masterforest-boutique.com/en/classic-wheels/3611-black-offroad-modular-wheel-rim-6x16-suzuki-santana-4wd.html 16x6 steelies with a 0 offset. Any thoughts on whether a 0 offset is enough or I'll start bashing my leafs...

Otherwise, thanks to everyone who's posted useful stuff of the course, I've learnt an awful lot reading the archives.

These are just a generic rim, you should be able to purchase them locally. however, for a WT Sierra 0 offset probably isn't enough to clear the springs with a 235 85, in any case, locally available. GV rims are 16X6.5's and are 5P and will work work for for a 235 85, but 6.5 is a bit wide for a 7.50 X 16. (also, if it's a consideration, the GV 16" rim can't accommodate a bolted beadlock due to it's construction)

I'd suggest having Gecko make some up at around -10.

No, vitara rims won't work as they're 25P

Gecko, custom manufactured as a beadlock, makeup to suit 255 85 16's. (Jonnoracing might recall the offset, I don't)

Here is a NT running WT axles and 255 85 16's on Vitara rims. Obiovusly as it has underslung springs spring clearance isn't really an issue (although you can see how close they get in this photo) but the reduced track width of the 25P rims was very noticeable.

PS, you don't need 16" rims to have a narrow tyre, although in this case being NHS is a bit of an inconvenience - whilst these are nominally a 10" tyre, they're 7.5" across the tread. Their performance off road is next level.

Not sure if Gecko still exists.

I’m sure there’s an equivalent- I’m sure gecko were just branding a Chinese product
