Hi all,

I recently picked up a 97 Vitara Soft top, its in decent nick and has the 2 litre engine with about 220,000kms, the only gripe i've got with it is the soft top is starting to fall apart and the rear window zipper is stuffed and cant be put back in. Does anyone know of any businesses that build or can build me a frameless or fast back style replacement? There was a couple of companies mentioned in this thread viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4912 but i think the businesses may have folded.

Can't answer the softtop question, but are you sure that's a 2.0 engine? If it is it's been swapped in, that picture is the narrower frame 1.6 body style.

Windows has a free photo resizing App. or just dowload one like Irfan view.

Unless i'm missing something any Motor Trimmer will sort the soft top to your design/repair.

Cheers Harry, useful info re the resizing app. I'm going to ask the local trim guy but wanted to see if there were any off the shelf items available.

This is all I could find as was described as “custom”

http://images.dealerrevs.com/gallery/ph ... d=32037764

I think the big issue with fastback tops is they flap/can’t be adequately tensioned, especially using factory hardware. You can see in the photo there is still a support in there and it needs to clear the rear seats so the “fastback” look can’t really be achieved.

You can see in your photo that the sides don’t look taut and there looks to be additional hardware to retain it.

Sierra fastback tops are notoriously flappy.
