Hi All,

Is it possible to install AC to an old 85' Drover, I read somewhere that they had it as an aftermarket option? And if so, where should I start?

I bought a Drover and the hot/cool air doesn't blow, so I need to investigate this. It got me thinking if I should consider AC at the same time, depending on what's required.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, A/C was an option.

Complete kits removed from cars turn up from time to time for sale. It's a fairly complex collection of parts to source and install though - there's a wiring harness, double row crank pulley, the A/C switch added to the heater panel and I believe a pusher thermo fan to assist.

When you say "doesn't blow" does the fan not run or is there no air flow despite the fan running?

Fan not running, no activity whatsoever from the controls. I have the FSM now and I'm planning to do some troubleshooting, fingers crossed that it's something simple.

Sounds like the A/C should be a job for another day, or maybe not at all?

There’s three different things going on here. Blower fan is obviously electrical, so fuse, then switch, then resistor pack, then motor.

The air direction controls move air doors on heater box itself. This is a 100% mechanical process. The fresh/recirc snd floor vent levers and doors are visible with no disassembly.

The heater control is a tap on the firewall. Operated by a cable that passes through the firewalll.

If none of these levers is doing anything I’d suggest the heater box and or dashboard has been out and never put back properly/at all.

Got it working but not sure exactly what I did, I think it was to do with the fan speed switch. Maybe it’s dirty contacts.

The other control cables seem to be functioning correctly, but the demist setting isn’t blowing.

Should I be able to see the physical switching between fresh/recirc to verify it’s working?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Fresh/recirc is operated by a straight rod look under the glovebox to see the door. You’ll hear a “thwump” sound as the door shuts when switching to fresh.
