I need to fit bumpstops to my Sierra - Is it as simple as figuring out the clearance between the tyre and the top of the guard and using that (minus a bit)? I am SPOA with 31s, plus about 1 inch springs (but I will be flattening them out a bit). What would be a good length front, and rear bumpstop? |

for my mind on up travel the wheel lifts until the axle pivots on the bump stop forceing the other side down. There is noting really to stop the wheel from continuing to rise until it scrubs. Of course it will stop eventually but just measureing the amount the wheel can rise into the wheel arch isnt really enough i dont think. |

whatever will break 1st minus a bit, so tyres in guards, shocks bottoming out, steering binding etc |

i think with mine i got some blocks of wood, a couple of g clamps and a ramp and with trial and error moving them around and different sizes figured out what worked the best. |

measure distance till shocks are bottomed out, take off 20-30mm then measure the distance between diff and where bumpstops will go, the difference in these 2 measurements is your bumpstop length, no real need to flex anything |

basicly you want your springs to invert about an inch. because i springs are flat i only have about 1.5inch of uip travel. this will also depends on your shocks |

Is the end of the shiny part of the shaft generally the limit of travel? |

yeah you want to be on the bumpstops to hit before the shocks are fully closed |

well i have front shock distance before fully compressed approx 95mm distance from chassis to diff housing 225mm rear shock distance before fully compressed approx 110mm distance from chassis to diff housing 230mm on my front shocks it seems the lower mount on the right is 10mm lower than the left so i got a measurement of 105mm but thats irrelevant i will work with the smaller amount so i should be getting bump stops of around Front 225 - (95-25) = 150mm ? Rear 230 - (110-25) = 145mm ? seems pretty big but is probably right |

looks like 80 series rears are about 170mm, anyone know if they can be cut down, they are progressive aswell so should be nice, think i might only be able to use them on the rear though |

Holy shit they are huge bump stops mine will be roughly 50mm I think with standard front rubbers on the front and rear |

standard bump stops are 50mm
thats a standard bumpstop with a 20mm spacer under it so you see how far away my diffs sit lol if you look at a 2 inch lifted coily it only sits like 100mm or so away
so with bigger tyres, springs that are longer that do not compress as much and shocks i don't want to kill i think 150mm is starting to make sense and work with my setup.. |

did my rears today, front will not be as easy, these are from a 100 series land cruiser, they are exactly 150mm tall and are nice and squishy so should be perfect..

put a bolt in new
