I've seen somwhere people just cutting out there sills and replacing it with RHS. Im keen to cut stuff up and stick it back together but how strong would it be? If i dropped onto a rock would it push up into the door? I wanted to do this from the start but now my truck failed blue slip because of rust in there im happy to do it now... |

ireckon this is the way to do it mate,if i ever take the time to redo things on my truck this will be one of the things to change.Should be reasonably strong. What else did you fail on??? Steves has come up great.I alsao remember bubs i think off OL doing some out of 75 or 100mm rhs a few years back. |

it's welded to the body along the top side of the box, and welded to the three cross braces under the body floor. I've dropped on to them heaps of times and no dents or cracking. So it's part of the body really. PS. also is better than sliders because you have heaps of clearence. |

wouldnt running it back to your chassis aswell create a problem with cracking etc??you would have to either body mount it or chassis mount it |

I can't remember the size and i'm at work now... it might be 40mm x 80mm box. It's definatley not 100mm x 50mm. |

Mine. I used 3mm angle and spacers between the slider and the top of the kick panel. They have worked well however they bend fairly easily at the outer edge when dropped and slid along rocks so they will be replaced with 5-6mm angle soon. Not sure how road legal they would be.

Legally they would be fine. But 3mm is WAY too light. The 6mm upgrade is a great idea!! |
