I'm trying to get my shocks from topping out when my suspension goes full drop when I jump it. I put on shock spacers but I now have 10.6 inches of suspension travel is this too much? Spring is not coming uncaptive but the CV angle at full drop is 25 degrees it's not actually binding up at all even full lock and can be easily turned by hand but will this CV explode under load? Cheers

Limit straps are what you need.

If you’re running long travel struts with spacers (sounds like you are) the drivers side axle will fall out of the diff and it’s likely the cv’s will fall apart at full lock/full droop.

Yeah I'm not sure if limit straps are all good in New Zealand without certification unfortunately do you think the CVS are definitely dead? I have the lhs CV mod and factory length lhs CV joint which is quite a bit longer than the driver's side. I can take the spacers back out I was just having quite loud shock topping out noises whenever the suspension went full drop and I was worried the shocks might eventually break or rip the shock towers apart is that a risk? But yeah the CV joints are not binding up at all well the passenger inner one is a little because it's an aftermarket tripod one but I have an OEM one to go back in. Probably not worth the risk and extra wear on suspension and ball joints ay

The LHS mod will stop the axle pulling out of the diff but with long travel struts and spacers the cv’s will fall apart at full lock/full droop, generally in reverse.

Vitara suspension isn’t designed to be jumped and if you wish to you’ll need to build the car with some race car mentality, so progressive bumpstops and limit straps.

You will also need a strut brace and consider chassis reinforcement as they are known to crack behind the spring mount.

I’m sure you can unbolt the limit straps for WOF.

Ultimately though if you do race car things you need race car parts.

I have been airborne in a vitara with OME struts, spacers and calmini springs and it jumped very well (better than it had a right to) but the running gear isn’t durable enough to do it, in reality.
