Post subject:  OME or Ironman Suspension Kit

I need to throw a suspension kit through my 93 sierra, I have come to the conclusion of either a set of OME or Ironman medium. They both will handle my setup but which would be a better fit ride wise? Is it worth spending the extra $500 to get the OME's.

The Minister of Finance and War has accepted that it needs to be done :woohoo: but as per normal needs justification for the extra expense?

Any suggestions or arguments would be greatly appreciated.

My personal preference is neither of these brands. lots of people love OME i have had nothing but issues with mine. My next set will be EFS

I rate my ome kit over any ironman or rockcrawler kitted out trucks i have been in. The others are very stiff and don't flex aswell in my experiences.

my springs + bush's + u bolts came to $561.95, but that was april last year so it may have gone up. Add $250 for commodore/hilux shock combo and your set.

i hope you convince The Minister of War and Finance, i'm sure if you buy her something pretty she'll let it slide.

I bought a set, and first trip out very nearly folded them in half with spring wrap. took them back as faulty, ARB swapped them. next trip out did the very same thing. I currently have kings on there and havent had an issue.

i did get a inverted shackle on the front but that was my fault and how i was driving it.

i'm only now after 14 months of hard offroad driving and abusing them starting to get slight spring wrap.

mines on a completely standard setup (no spring over or longer shackles).

I run 33"s, 4.9 transfer. 3.9 diffs and a 1.6efi, so that might account for the difference. They were no good for me though

yep it will, the kings standard are a lot stiffer than most, for most people the OME are great

I love my OME springs... i wouldn't have anything else... I've had tough dogs in the past and they were crap... I've also had lovells and they were pretty good, but i think the ome's are better...

OME for sure.

Like any leaf spring, if you have lots of added power or gearing, it may need tuning, but I'm yet to see a better performing off the shelf spring.

the reason vitara stuff is pricey is the front struts are expensive to make. chuck that stuff in i bet the struts last less that 12 months (and are poorly valved).

Are your front springs from the rear (RUF)? I ask because i have heard mixed opinions on SOA using OME springs. Looked in rigs section at photo's but cannot see if your mounts have been moved. Front mount looks stock. Spring height looks OK and i am thinking of putting OME in the front of mine and am interested in what you used.
