| Post subject: | What shocks for rear of Vitara? |
Hi, can anyone help with what shocks to run in the rear of a Vitara with 2" spring lift and 30mm spacers? I am talking about either the commodore or hilux shocks (cheapest for now). I have tried searching but find it a little confusing when people are talking about shocks for there Sierra (will they work the same for the Vitara?), and then when I do find a little info I get lost in the hilux front/rear, commodore front/rear wagon/sedan, hiace front/rear model ......... ect. Any help would be great
Thanx Jamie |

it is commodore wagon rears, there is a tonne of models with the same shock. VP, VR, VS are three of them that use the same model shock. part no. 81340 It is not actually hiace or hilux, both of them have the wrong set up. it is actually another type of toyota van, the part no. is 81147 |

pretty sure the sedan commodore shocks would be the go seeing as you have 80mm of lift. sedan shocks are way longer than the wagons http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... pic&t=2466 theres a little bit of info there unless you've found it already |

I went down this morning and got the VS sedan Gabriels from SC and put them in today. I compared the wagon and the sedan first and found minimal difference, they worked out well, not an easy job to do from a wheelchair (well... and out of it for some of it). Thanks for help, now to play around with the front

what springs did you use? i have a vitara and was also looking @ springs and 30mm spacers. i was looking @ ironman springs but haven't really shopped around so dont know what is available and for what price.. looks good in the pix. got to see what it flexes like now im interested to see how it all goes to see if i'll follow the same path.. |

I only put on cheap Lovells shortly after I had got it, really surprised me that they did raise it 2" and the ride was very smooth. Have no complaints about them but do not know what others are like so cant comment all that much? As for flex, I dont plan on doing a great deal just yet until I extend the bump stops and organize putting in my front spacers and sorting out which shocks to use there?. Cheers Jamie |

damn it i was gona go with lovells.. i went with king springs.. very stiff.. as for the front, theres not not a great deal you can do.. you can do a strut mount flip which is very cheap and will give you almost as much drop as an aftermarket strut. if you do decide to buy struts go old man emu. there probably the best, but very expensive. |
