G'day everyone....
im thinking of replacing the old door panels in my 1990 vitara with checker plate and not sure to use 1.6mm or 2mm has anybody done this ???? is it a straight foward job what else do i need to tackle this job??
has anyone done this, and would like to show me some pictures of what it looks like..

i think we have changed about 3 or 4 cars BACK to original panels or other materials.
the ckecker rattles, is cold, uncomfortable and really does not look good.

yer, checker plate is soo 2004. It just makes the car look like someone covered it in Supercheap plastic rolls.

I think plain aluminum looks the best. I'm not a big fan of checker plate because of the chrome and the pattern which is really only designed for grip.
but if you like the look of it just take your standard door trim off and use that as a template then but some cut with a grinder and use a file to round the edges.

This is canvas from my ol mans camper trailer... if i do it again i would of put some sort of padding in behind it. I have checker plate ready for the job but thought it was going to be pretty freaken cold on my knee at 5 in the morning...
