G'day all,

Is it possible to set up a dual battery system in my 84' sierra, or will i need to upsize the battery and altinator from the stock standard size??

depends what you want it to do, the main battery is only for starting it so no need for anything bigger, a bigger alternator will charge a battery faster if the battery can accept the current, but most of em cant so no real gain there

bigger alternator is useful if you want to run lots of lights or high powered stuff while the engine is running

Thanks Royce, I'm looking at the 2nd battery for running other equipment like spotlights, driving lights, fridge etc

will help with the fridge, mak sure you do the sums t know how much battery you will need first though

if you wanna run the lights with the engine off the battery is good, if you wanna run em with teh engine running then an alternator is better

you should be able to put a battery in the same as mine. it is a 58amp hour battery and it keeps my 40 ltr engel at -5 for around two and a half days.
