| Post subject: | Jimny power steering pump question |
I have a late model Jimny power steer pump that has a idle up switch solenoid thing on pump; can someone who has a jimny tell me where this wire goes to on theirs. David P.S. maybe a wiring diagram would help also |

your fitting to sierra? in a jimny thet goes to the ecu so it can adj the idle for the power the p/steer pump uses, prevents stalling. Steve |

I run a large Toyota pump on my Sierra and the effect it has on idle speed is negligible. |

I haven`t done it in a sierra but you can use a relay to power the idle up, the switch on the pump will switch earth, so give the relay power to switch & 12v pins with no earth as you`ll use the p/s switch to trigger earth completing the curcuit, put the acc pin to solinoid. Steve |

David P.S. maybe a wiring diagram would help also In the downloads section mate i've uploaded the service manual for the Jim , try that , it has the diagrams i'm pretty sure. |

I run jimny p/s box with a vit pump on my 1600, when its cold (its been very cold here of a morning and I dont run a choke on my webers) it labours a little but once warmed up its fine. Is yours up and running or are you still fitting it as you may be worrying over somthing that mighten be a problem. Nik |

Nik Yes it is up and running only finished today, have not had a chance to try out on the dirty stuff. It appears to handle the pump ok (the idle that is) I was just wondering if the wire up would help that was all David |

Cool you will love the p/s 
Ive only noticed the extra load this winter but as I said I dont run a choke so my 1600 idles at 500rpm until warm so it labours a bit when turning and the power isnt really there but as soon as its up to temp its all good. Nik |

Nik Nik, Your right the PS is awesome; i think i will need to install a oil cooler for it though. In tight technical tracks and in conjunction with the air temperature the oil does get extremely hot. Do you run a cooler if so what type is it. David |

Ive thought about running a cooler but as yet I havnt. If I go to that lenght I will mod the pump for more pressure and flow (think its talked about on zuwharrie) So far Ive run 33s at 5psi in rocks and Ive had the 35s down to 10psi in "normal" type stuff Im still waiting to see how it handles the 35s aired right down!
