hey boys ok need advice is it possible for an alternaor fault to cause the rhs wiring loom to go up in flames? I suspect the alt has shorted to earth is this possible? I very nearly burnt the old girl to the ground as the old boy I bought her off had replaced the fuseable link with hd wire but It still looked like a fuseable link. anyway now its time for a major rewire as the loom down rhs of engine bay is charcoal and its gone under the dash somewhat too. I dont think its rubbed to earth anywhere as all major power wires were covered in plastic tubing so the large alt power is my main suspect any ideas? |

yeah it blows big time nothing rubbed through I dont think,Ihad it running on stands in the shed the other day and had not moved it since.what i think may have happened somehow is the alt is shot and the power wire to it has gone to earth??? anyway a donor loom is a top idea if anyone has one,Id love to keep the wiring the correct colors etc. I'd need from the fuse box to rh headlight. cheers andrew ps i'm about to do a 1.6 inj swap so I have a loom for that but I think its diffent parts of that loom Im using right? |

the 1.6 only needs the engine wiring... alt and lights are seperate. somone will surely have an old loom lying around somewhere. i would be having a really really good look for the cause though! |

Dank is right on the money. I stripped a Wt zook and I still have the loom. The only prob is it was butchered when they did the corolla conversion. Your more than welcome to come sus it out and grab what ya need. Bring a 6pack and ya can have what ever ya need from the Box of looms. B4T |
