| Post subject: | Lifting a LWB Vitara |
So, I'm thinking of removing the current springs from my 94 LWB Vitara - well at least the front, as they're too big and don't fit properly. I thought seeing as I'm doing this, I might as well lift it 2" (suspension lift). Any suggestions what springs I should use, and this a simple DIY job? Also, do I need to change the current shocks (Bilsteins)? |

It`s not a simple job, but it`s not hard. you said that your not very mechanically minded in another post, so my advise would be to at least have some one there who has done that sort of thing before, considering you have to leaver the spring out. Steve |

I've got a good mate who's a fitter, so I might be able to get him to give me a hand. I just was curious as to what's involved. Is it simply removing old springs and putting in new ones, or do you use spacers, or what? |

Any suspension shop can do it easy way to do it, jack car up stands under chassis, jack under bottom arm, undo bottom balljoint at 3 bolts and pull hub out of the way a bit and lower jack slowly, wrangle old spring out and slip new one in and do balljoint back up is pretty straight forward till you start talking spacers and heaps more lift then the springs are a bit hard to get it, you need to lever and kick and swear and hope it doesnt slip and take your arm off

easier way to do it, jack car up stands under chassis, jack under bottom arm, undo the 2 strut bolts on the knuckle. |

What side of the river are you on , if the Northside give me a pm . Lots of questions to ask before people can advise you what to do. I'll tell you this though, Kings lifted springs only lifted the front of my 94 LWB Vitara by 10mm in the front and 20mm in the rear . So spacers were used to compansatefor the short fall . Next time I'd go to alot more trouble in looking at peoples claims in relation to what lift a spring will give. Peter |

I got 2" out of GV springs but they are pretty stiff so spacers might be needed if you want a soft ride too I dont know if OME have something thats a real 2" lift, they do quite a few different sets |
