Post subject:  What diff Ratio is this

I have a spare NT rear diff at home and i pulled the centre out of it to see what the ratio was. I counted 41 teeth on the crown wheel and 9 teeth on the pinion. Therefore the Ratio would be 4.56. Is this correct?? :?:

I didn't think that you could get 4.56 ratio's for the Suzuki?? :?:

I'm pretty sure some model Vitaras came with that ratio.

Someone that has a bit more Vit knowledge will chime in hopefully.

I think that they are 1 litre. I got a complete set of diffs when i bought the ute and this is just one of the spare diffs that i have pulled apart to keep as spares.

They are either out of a ute or hardtop (both NT)

If it's a 1 litre size, LJ80s came with 4.56 diffs. If it a 1.3 size, early Vits with an Auto box have 4.625 diffs.

If you're running 1 litre axle housings, your other options for R&P ratios are 4.875 from an LJ50 or 5.125 from a Super Carry.

This is unusual that it is in a NT housing??

Does anyone want it?? it needs to be rebuilt as the bearings are all stuffed. I wil check the spare front and see if i have a matching pair for anyone interested.

Its a common way to lower gearing in a 1.0L diff. You can also use LJ50 which is 4.8.
